Humpback whales, what can I say, amazing, incredible mammals. They travel far and bring new songs each year, that have the trace of their travels in them. They are playful and curious. When you look eye to giant eye with a humpback a connection is made, I see awareness and even seem to take care as they move around you. Sometimes coming in just a few feet from you. However the power of these creatures when they decide to move is staggering. Sometimes they become very boisterous when two males compete for the attention of a female, in something called a heat run. So it is not without danger jumping into the middle of the deep open ocean and getting close to these humpbacks.
